Abstract Cervical cancer is a slow growing cancer. It can be detected in early staging by screening methods like pap smear and VIA. Women of low socio-ecnomic status visit hospital only when the problem is clinically visible. They do not come for routine screening and health check-ups. So in these women cervical cancer is detected late in advanced stages. They lack awareness about cancer screeninig. VIA act as boon for these patients. In this study we done VIA in 650 women and 35 came positive and 30 were treated on the same day with cryotharapy. Rest of patients could not be treated because of technical problems. So VIA is boon for these patients because they do not have to come for return visit and treatment can be done simultaneously. The financial burden for VIA is almost nil as compared to Pap smear and colposcopy. We do not need a big infrastructure and a specialized training for VIA as compared to Pap smear interpretation and Colposcopy.
