Abstract

Butea monosperma (lam.) Kuntz known as flam of forest, (SanskritPalash) is being used in traditional medicines. It has been found tohave antimicrobial, wound healing, antifungal, antidiarrhoeal,hypoglycemic, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antihelmintic, anticonvulsive,antistress, anti diabetic, anti-inflammatory activity. It alsoused in treatment of goiter,spermatorrhoea and antidote for snake bite.It contains butrin, isobutrin, butin, palasitrin, and butein. Any plantwhich is used medicinally requires Detailed study prior to its usebecause the therapeutic efficacy is absolutely depends on the quality of the plant drug used.So before using a drug it is very much essential to carry out its detailed study. The presentstudy was conducted to review study on Butea monosperma L.
