STUDIES ON THE INSECTICIDAL POTENTIAL OF LANTANA CAMARA AND IPOMOEA FISTULOSA ON MYTHIMNA SEPARATA LARVAE

Abstract

Since medicinal plant played an important role in human life of human, as the major source of food, as well as for the maintenance and improvement of health and for elimination of disease. In this regard the human beings have invented various natural insecticidal and pesticide compounds from plant also. Pests are those organisms like weeds, insects bacteria, fungi, viruses and animals which adversely affect our way of life. Pests can reduce the quality and quantity of plant productivity. Insect pests, diseases and weeds cause considerable damage to potential agricultural production. To prevent above cited harmful effects of pesticides it become essential to alternative pesticides which may not be toxic for animals, human beings or agricultural crops. Therefore two medicinal plants i.e. Lantana Camara and Ipomoea Fistulosa has chosen to observe their pesticide effects on agricultural pest i.e. Mythimna separata larvae.
