SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND BIOLOGICAL EVOLUTION OF SOME NOVEL 2-PYRAZOLINE DERIVATIVES WITH CHALCONE
Yogita A. Hatwar*, M. N. Narule, Pravin K. Bhoyer and K. R. Dixit
Abstract In the present study efforts have been made to synthesized linked heterocycles for enhancing biological activities. We tried to accommodate 2-pyrazoline and chalcone moieties in a single molecular framework. A series of new 2-pyrazoline analogues with α, β unsaturated keto group III(a-u) were synthesized by condensing Nacetyl- 2-pyrazoline with substituted benzaldehyde. The chemical structures of III(a-u) were established on the basis of combined use of IR, NMR (1H, 13C), mass spectroscopy and elemental analysis. All compounds were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities against four bacterial and two fungal strains comparable to the reference standard ciprofloxacine and flucanozole respectively. All compounds showed moderate to good activity. Antibacterial activity is more prominent than antifungal activity. Compound IIIj, IIIm, IIIq, IIIt show higher antibacterial activity. Compound IIIc, IIIf and IIIo exhibited significant dual effects (antifungal and antibacterial). Keywords: Chalcone, 2-pyrazoline, anti-microbial activity.
