PREPARATION AND EVALUATION OF QUALITY CONTROL PARAMETERS FOR CLASSICAL FERMENTED POLYHERBAL FORMULATION “DRAKSHARISHTAâ€

Abstract Asava and Arishta are unique dosage form mentioned in Ayurveda having long shelf life and it was said that the “Purana Sayat Guneryukta” means “older the better it is”, Arishtas are self-generated polyherbal fermentations of traditional Ayurvedic system. They are medicaments prepared by allowing the herbal juices or their decoctions to undergo fermentation with the addition of sugars, jaggary and natural fermentation initiators like flowers of Woodfordia fruticosa and Madhuca Indica. Draksha is the herb used for curing number of ailments like blood disorders, respiratory disorders, it act as immunomodulator and adaptogenic. In this study efforts have been made to adopt standard operative procedures for preparation of Draksharishta, its qualitative parameters have been evaluated and also an attempt has been done to develop a new solvent system for TLC.
