SYNTHESIS, SPECTRAL EVALUATION AND ANTI-BREAST CANCER ACTIVITY STUDIES OF COPPER (II) COMPLEX CONTAINING MIXED LIGANDS SCHIFF BASE ((2-CARBOXYPHENYL)-PYRIDINE-2-YL ETHYLENE AMINE) AND 1, 10 PHENANTHROLINE

Abstract Copper (II)complex was prepared by using mixed ligands Schiff base, (2-carboxyphenyl)-pyridine-2-yl ethylene amine and 1, 10- phenanthrolinewith a metal:ligand ratio of 1:1. Distorted octahedron structure was elucidated on the basis of elemental analyses, IR, electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductivity. Anticancer activity showed that in vitro evaluation of cyto-toxic effects on breast cancer MCF-7 cell lines of metal complex was higher active than ligands. We report synthesis, spectral evaluation and anticancer study of copper (II) complex of mixed ligands Schiff base (2-carboxyphenyl)-pyridine-2-yl ethylene amine and 1,10- phenanthroline.
