REVIEW ON DIABETES AND ITS MANAGEMENTP. Natarajan*, R. Arunpandian, G. Subramanian, G. Ragunath
Abstract India is the country in the world whish has a largest number of diabetic patients by this it is know as “diabetic capital of world”. Now a day the trend is shifting to the age of onset of diabetic to the younger age people in recent years which it leads to affects the effects of nation’s health and economy. As per the WHO, India will be the country with highest number of diabetic patient in the world by 2035 which is followed by china and the USA. Diabetes is the chronic metabolic disorder by which it is characterized by hyperglycemia which is caused by defective insulin secretion, resistance to insulin action, or by combination of both. Alterations of lipid and protein metabolism also are important manifestations of these defects in insulin secretion or action. Most patients with diabetes mellitus have either type 1 diabetes (which is immune-mediated or idiopathic) or type2 diabetes (with a complex pathophysiology that combines progressive insulin resistance and cell failure and has a heritable basis). These defects may lead to the an proper maintained of diet and the correct medication, so to overcome these effects. The Pharmacists being an important member of the healthcare system have an immense responsibility in counseling these patients.
