SYNTHESIS OF NOVEL PYRIMIDINE DERIVATIVES AS POTENTIAL ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS

Abstract Some novel Pyrimidine derivatives were synthesized from the reaction of various substituted Chalcones with Hydrazine hydrochloride. N-11- amine[1-phenylethanone]dibenzo[b,f][1,4] thiazepine and substituted aromatic aldehydes in Methanol were reacted to produce different Chalcones. The purity of the synthesized compounds was determined by TLC and they have been characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, IR and 1H-NMR spectral data. The synthesized compounds were also screened for antibacterial and antifungal activity. Some of the compounds were endowed with a remarkable antibacterial as well as antifungal activity.
