FORMULATION, PHARMACEUTICAL PROPERTIES, CHRONOPHARMACOLOGY OF DICLOFENAC SODIUM WATER-INOIL- IN-WATER EMULSION BY USING TAIL IMMERSION METHOD

Abstract

Multiple emulsions, either w/o/w or o/w/o emulsions, are generally prepared using a two step procedure. Most knowledge of medication doses has been derived from single and multiple dose investigation following day time administration. Chronopharmacology studies involve the evaluation of such phenomenon after each of several different clock hours during day and night time. We have studied the analgesic effect of same dose of Diclofenac for testing at different hours by using tail immersion method. The project is undertaken to justify the influence of biological clock on the drug effectiveness, so as to improve the drug efficacy. It showed enhanced analgesic activity at afternoon (1200 h), evening (1800 h), and morning time (0600 h) as compared to the midnight (0000 h) time. Multiple emulsions showed the linear release or promising release characteristics of drug and also prolonged the action of drug.
