SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF OLMESARTAN MEDOXOMIL AND RAMIPRIL BY FIRST DERIVATIVE UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHODKarajgi S. R.*, Kulkarni R.V.
Abstract Purpose. A simple, precise and economical procedure for the simultaneous estimation of Ramipril (RAM) and Olmesartan Medoxomil (OLM) in tablet formulation has been developed. Method. The present study involves the method development for simultaneous estimation of both these drugs by the first derivative spectrophotometric method using Elico SL- 160 UV spectrophotometer. Results. OLM has zero crossing point at 243.4 nm, where RAM is estimated and RAM has zero crossing point at 237.4 nm in methanol, where OLM is estimated. Both these drugs obey Beer’s law in the concentration range employed (5-35 microgram/ml) for the present method. The result of analysis has been validated statistically by recovery studies. Conclusion. The newly developed method is a sensitive, accurate, precise and simple, which can be successfully employed for the routine estimation of both these drugs in bulk drugs and formulations without the interference of common excipients.
