Abstract Immunofluorescence (IF) is the labeling of any substrate with fluorescent dyes. It enables detection of antibodies, antigens, complement components and fibrin. It is one of the common laboratory techniques that has wide applications in clinical diagnosis and research. It’s a good diagnostic adjunct to many autoimmune mucocutaneous diseases. This article aims to provide a brief review on the types, technique and the applications of immunofluorescence technique in oral diseases.
