EFFECT OF DESICCATION OF THE BIOCHEMICAL MOIETIES AND HAEMOLYMPH CONSTITUENTS OF THIRD INSTAR LARVA OF LEUCOPHOLIS LEPIDOPHORA (BLANCH)*Theurkar Sagar, Ghadage Mahesh and Patil Sakharam
Abstract Third instar group of the Leucophora lepidophora Bl. Expose to desiccation for 45 days in the soil having 14% moisture level. Desiccation causes considerable loss up to 44% in the body weight. Biochemical moieties like body total sugar, glucose, protein and lipid get considerable reduced by 73%, 69%, 41%, and 90% respectively by desiccation. The haemolymph total sugar, glucose and protein in desiccated grubs also reduce by 53%, 64% and 22% respectively. The Total Haemocyte Count of grubs significantly increased from 1850/mm3 of haemolymph to 6000/mm3 of haemolymph. The haemolymph cationic composition of Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+ of desiccated grub significantly increased by 91%, 45%, 36% , and 33% respectively. Keywords: [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
