Abstract

ANTIOXIDANT ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITIES OF ASPHODELUS MICROCARPUS

Abstract

Over the past decade, there has been an increase of interest in the investigation of natural materials as a source of potential drug substance. This study is aimed to evaluate the biological activity of Asphodelus microcarpus. Plant phenolics and flavonoids content was determined, then antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities in ethanolic extract were evaluated. The extract showed significant anti-inflammatory effect, a moderate antioxidative activity but no antibacterial activity was noted.
