Abstract

Infertility is defined as failure to conceive within one year or more than one year of regular & unprotected coitus. It is the most sensitive and cumbersome problem which haunts every couple. Total 10-15% of world population affected due to this problem. Among them Female is directly responsible about 40%. The sub factors of female infertility are Ovarian, Endometrial, Tubal and Uterine etc. In Ayurved so many formulation are given for Infertility. Lashunadi Taila Yoga is taken From Kashyapa Samhita and Maharasnadi Kwatha from Sharangdhara Samhita for Inferility. However, till date no published data is available on its analytical profile. The main aims and objectives of this study are to develop the Pharmacognostical and Phytochemical profile of these two yogas. The samples were subjected to organoleptic, physicochemical analysis and High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) examination by optimizing the solvent systems. The pharmacognostical study of ingredients of Lashunadi Taila and Maharasnadi Kwatha shows the presence of Stomata, oil contain cells, Epidermal Cells Cluster crystals, Border Pitted vessels etc. Pharmaceutical analysis of Lashunadi Taila showed that loss on drying 0.47%, Acid value 1.29%, Iodine value 48.56%, Saponification value 277.05% and High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography at 254 nm resulted into 12 spots respectively. Pharmaceutical analysis of Maharasnadi Kwatha showed that the loss on drying value was 8.245% w/w, Ash value 8.49%, water solubility 46.30%, PH 6.5 and High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography at 254 nm and 366 nm resulted into 9 & 6 spots respectively.

Keywords: HPTLC, Lashunadi Taila, Maharasnadi Kwatha, Pharmacognosy, Physicochemical.
