Abstract The study was conducted with the aim to improve the knowledge of pregnant women regarding Management of pregnancy induced hypertension, thereby prevent the occurrence of pregnancy induced hypertension among women and reduce the maternal morbidity and mortality. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY To determine the association between pre interventional knowledge of pregnant women regarding management of pregnancy induced hypertension with selected demographic variables. [age, educational qualification, occupation, residence, income]. To compare pre and post interventional knowledge of pregnant women regarding pregnancy induced hypertension. HYPOTHESIS: H 1. There is significant association between pre test knowledge with selected demographic variables in pregnant women with pregnancy induced hypertension at0.05 level of significance. H 2. There is significant increase in post interventional level of knowledge regarding management of pregnancy induced hypertension among pregnant women at 0.05 level of significance. Methodology A pre -experimental one group pre test and post-test design was used for the study. Using purposive sampling technique, 50 pregnant women were selected and the data was collected using structured interview schedule. The results were described by using descriptive and inferential statistics. After collecting the data, planned teaching programme was administered to the pregnant women on the same day and on day 7th post test was conducted by using same questionnaire. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results The knowledge level of subjects regarding pregnancy induced hypertension. Showed that in pre test score, among the total sample (N= 50), maximum number of subjects (72%) had good knowledge, 16% had average knowledge and 12% had excellent knowledge while none (0%) of the subjects had below average knowledge regarding management of pregnancy induced hypertension. In post test, majority of subjects (76%) had excellent knowledge, 24% had good knowledge and while none (0%) of the subjects had average and below average knowledge regarding management of pregnancy induced hypertension. Findings related to effectiveness of health education package on knowledge regarding management of pregnancy induced hypertension among subjects, showed that the posttest mean knowledge score (35.76) was higher than the pre test mean knowledge score (27.44). The mean differences were statistically significant (p≤0.05).This indicates the effectiveness of the planned teaching programme in increasing the level of knowledge of management of pregnancy induced hypertension. There was no statistically significant relation between pretest level of knowledge of subjects with their selected demographic variables at level p Keywords: Effectiveness, planned teaching programme, pregnancy induced hypertension [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
