SYNTHESIS OF SOME NOVEL ISOXAZOLES CARRYING 2-(5-PHENYLISOXAZOL-3-YL) PHENOL MOIETY AS POTENTIAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTI-MICROBIAL AGENTS

Abstract A series of novel isoxazoles (III a-j) have been synthesized from 2- hydroxy acetophenone (I) with aryl aldehydes to get chalcones i.e. α, β- unsaturated ketones (II). Then cyclization of chalcones with hydroxyl amine hydrochloride in ethanol leads to synthesis of title compounds. The structures of newly synthesized derivatives have been confirmed by different spectral analysis like IR, 1H NMR, Mass spectral analysis. The novel compounds have been tested for their antimicrobial activity and invitro anti-inflammatory activity. Some of the compounds showed encouraging results.
