MEDICINAL ORCHID GENERA SATYRIUM SW. AND ITS EXACT EXISTENCE IN DARJEELING HIMALAYAN REGIONS OF EASTERN HIMALAYA

Abstract

Present paper deals with medicinal uses, present status, distribution and exact existence of the Genus Satyrium Sw. (Orchidaceae) in Darjeeling Himalayan regions of Eastern Himalaya with their habitat, altitudinal range and phenology in details. Immediate action required to conserve these species in nature. S. nepalense is found against diarrhea, dysentery, cuts and wounds and malarial fever and also used as tonic.
