Abstract The objective of this study was to investigate the hepatoprotective activity of methanol extracts aerial parts of Blumea mollis against Paracetamol-include hepatotoxicity. The material was dried in shade; they were powdered and extracted with methanol. Preliminary photochemical tests were done. Methanolic extract showed presence of Phenolic compound and flavonoids. The hepatoprotective activity of the methanol extract was assessed in Paracetamol induced hepatotoxic rats. Alteration in the levels of biochemical markers of hepatic damage like SGOT, SGPT, SALP, total bilirubin, serum cholesterol total protein were tested in both Paracetamol treated and untreated groups. Paracetamol (3g/kg) has enhanced the SGOT, SGPT, SALP, total bilirubin, serum cholesterol and decrease the total protein level in liver. Treatment of Methanolic extract of Blumea mollis aerial parts (250mg/kg) has brought back the altered levels of biochemical markers to the near normal levels in the dose dependent manner our findings suggested the Blumea mollis Methanolic arterial parts extract possessed hepatoprotective activity. Keywords: Blumea mollis, hepatoprotective, Methanolic extract, Liv-52, Paracetamol. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
