COATING OF CAFFEINE TABLETS BY USING TWO AQUEOUS FILM COATING FORMULATIONS UNDER SPECIFIC PROCESS PARAMETERS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY
Md Abul Haider Shipar*
Abstract Caffeine (65mg) tablets have produced by standard procedure. By using two aqueous film coating formulations, the uncoated tablets have been tested for the suitability of the coating process. Affect of the coating process on tablet properties has been observed under specific parameters during the coating process. The result reveals that caffeine tablets, produced and used in the present study, are suitable for the coating process under the specific process parameters. The disintegration time of uncoated tablets increases for applying both of the formulations. To achieve the specific weight gain, the formulation containing HPMC E6, Propylene glycol, FD&C Yellow # 5 and deionised water has been assumed taking more time than another one containing HPMC E50, PEG 6000, FD&C Yellow # 5 and deionised water.
