ACUTE AND SUB-ACUTE TOXICITY STUDIES OF SIDDHA METALLIC PREPARATION “VELVANGA CHUNNAM” IN WISTAR ALBINO RATS

Abstract

Metallic preparation usage for the various ailments,is one of the unique feature of Siddha System.Siddhars who brought and developed the Siddha system,mentioned more about usage of metallic preparations for treating various medical conditions in their respective ancient texts. Eventhough increasing awareness of Siddha high in the society,safety profile of Siddha Herbo-Minerals medicines questioned by scientific community in past days.It is our duty to clarifiy the safety measures of Siddha herbo-mineral medicines by modern scientific parameters.The aim of this study is to prove that “Velvanka Chunnam” Siddha metallic preparation is safe, with proper dose and timeline as per mentioned in literature . Acute,Sub-Acute toxicity studies are found to be safety, conducted in Lab rats.
