Abstract

EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF VARDHAMAN PIPPALI RASAYANA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF HYPOTHYROIDISM: A CASE STUDY

Abstract

Hypothyroidism, also called underactive thyroid or low thyroid, is a common disorder of the endocrine system in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. It can cause a number of symptoms, such as weight gain with poor appetite, Puffy face, hands, and feet (myxoedema), Hair fall, constipation, Dry skin, depression and poor memory, a feeling of tiredness, Hoarse voice, Menorrhagia (later oligomenorrhoea or amenorrhea). The diagnosis of hypothyroidism, when suspected can be confirmed with blood tests measuring thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and Free thyroxine levels. When person take different Aharaj, Viharaj and Manasika etiological factors cause vitiation of Kayagni. Kayagni get vitiated resulting in start of pathological events which eventually, leads to the disease condition. In this case study we have present 28 year old female patient with Hypothyroidism and its management with the vardhaman pippali rasayana.
