Kunal chandrakar *, Birendra Kumar, Sandip Prasad Tiwari, Usha Dewangan
Abstract This study Apocynum is aimed to perform pharmacognostical study of leaf of Calotropis gigantean and pharmacological study as anti-cancer activity. Calotropis gigantean Linn. It is a glabrous or hoary, laticiferous shrubs or small trees, commonly known as the milkweed. Latex contains the cardiac glycosides, calotopin, uscharin, calotoxin, calactin and uscharidin; gigantean. The extract of the latex of C.gigantea showed significantly high inhibitory effect on S. aureus, B. cereus and E. coli, moderate effect on C. krusei, whereas, no effect on M. luteus, K. pneumonia, P. aeruginosa and A. Niger. Minimum inhibitory concentration test was performed by modified agar well diffusion method. MIC values ranged in between 62.5 to 125 μg/ml. Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopic analysis of the latex powder showed the presence of major functional groups in the sample Keywords: Calotropis, cytotoxic, plants, latex, antipyretic, extraction [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
