INVITRO ANTIOXIDANT POTENTIAL OF HYDROMETHANOLIC EXTRACT OF LEAVES OF CALOTROPIS GIGANTEA (ASCLEPIADACEAE)
Ravi* and Dr. Neetu Rani
Abstract Calotropis gigantea of the family Asclepiadaceae has been considered as an important shrub and is used as antifertility, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, antimyocardial infraction, antidiarhoeal drugs etc. The present investigation aimed to evaluate the antioxidant potential of Calotropis gigantea. Antioxidant potential was determined by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl) free radical scavenging activity using ascorbic acid as standard. The result showed that hydromethanolic extract of Calotropis gigantea possesses antioxidant property (IC50 29.17μg/ml) compared to that of the standard ascorbic acid (IC50 12.93μg/ml). Keywords: Calotropis gigantea, DPPH, IC50. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
