INVITRO STUDIES ON THE EFFECT OF ZINGIBER OFFICINALE METHANOL EXTRACT IN LUNG CANCER A549 CELL LINES

Abstract The root of Zingiberofficinale is regarded as Ginger plant and commonly used in traditional medicine by many Countries like India, China, Nigeria, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, Philippines, Jamaica etc. to treat anticarcinogenic activity, antioxidant, anti inflammatory activityand many other diseases. This root extracts are found to have antioxidant and anticancer activities. Gingerol is the active principle which is responsible for these beneficial effects. This work was aimed to study the effect of Zingiberofficinale methanolic extracts on A549 lungs cancer cell lines and found these methanol extracts has high phytochemical compounds having more free radical scavenging and anticancer activities.
