DESIGN AND SYNTHESIS OF NOVEL HYDROXY – ANTHRAQUINONE DERIVATIVES AS ANTI-LESHMANIAL AGENTS

Abstract To synthesized the novel series of hydroxy anthraquinones derivatives using Friedel-Crafts acylation reaction and were identified as potential antileishmanial chemotype. Among the synthesized eight analogues, 2 analogues (7f & 7g) exhibited better antileishmanial chemotype. Among the synthesized 8 analogues, 2 analogues (7f & 7g) exhibited better antileishmanial activity against intracellular amastigotes form of Leishmania donovani. The compounds were also non-toxic towards Vero cells.
