SYNTHESIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF BINOL INDUCED OXIME AND THEIR DERIVATIVES
Shailesh S. Gurav*, Dr. Sandeep B. Kotwal and Seema R. Jadhav
Abstract A new chiral, modified BINOL and its derivatives have been prepared using simpler chemical methods with good yield. It is worthwhile to mention that mono-O- or di-O- (2-aryl-2-oxo-ethanyl) derivatives of BINOL, their corresponding oxime derivatives and their reduced products are not reported in the literature. Synthesized test compounds were characterized by TLC and IR and 1H-NMR spectral studies and evaluated for antimicrobial activities. All synthesized compounds showed moderate to good antimicrobial activity. Keywords: 1,1’-Bi-2-naphthol (BINOL), ?-bromoacetophenone, LAH, oxime, antimicrobial activity.
