ENHANCEMENT OF SOLUBILITY OF POORLY SOLUBLE DRUG BY MIXED SOLVENCY CONCEPT
C. Vineet, P. Arun, *P. Shailendra, D. Neelesh and K. Neeraj
Abstract In the present study, practically water insoluble drug, meloxicam was tried to be solubilized by employing the combination of physiologically compatible menthol: thymol mixture in the form of their eutectic mixture to make its sustained release formulations. In the present study liquid solvents were not used purposely. Two solids, menthol and thymol, in the form of eutectic liquid, were employed to solubilize ethyl cellulose and drug. Menthol and thymol were removed from the formulation by heat treatment. The resultant solid mass consists of drug (meloxicam), molecularly dispersed in matrix of ethyl cellulose, which release the drug for expected prolong time. Keywords: mixed solvency, Meloxicam, solid dispersion, Eutectic mixture. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
