Abstract

In the United States, an estimated 15.4 million people have coronary heart disease, of whom 7.6 million are affected by myocardial infarction and 2.1 million by congestive heart failure. Actually this dilemma is not restricted to USA alone, but it is a global issue where cardiovascular disease is one of the major causes of death worldwide accounting for nearly 17 million deaths per annum according to the World Health Organization.
