CLINICAL STUDY OF GRIDHRASIHARA TAILA BASTI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF GRIDHRASI (SCIATICA)

Abstract Gridhrasi is the one among 80 nanatmaj vata vyadhis. It is clinically characterized by sudden feeling of pain in the lower back or hip that radiates down from the buttock to the back of one thigh and leg. Sciatica has pain that runs along the sciatica nerve (L4, L5, S1, S2, S3), a large nerve extending from the lower back and down the back of each leg. The patient suffering from this disease walks like a Vulture. Gridhrasihara taila is explained by Acharya Charaka, Bruhad Nighantu Ratnakar & Bharat Bhaishajya Ratnakar for the management of Gridhrasi. The Clinical trial was carried out on 30 patients of Gridhrasi disease with Gridhrasihara taila Basti for a period of minimum 7 days & maximum 14 days at Tarachand Hospital, Pune.
