PHARMACOGNOSTICAL AND PHYSIO- CHEMICAL EVALUATION OF TARUNYAPIDIKAHARA LEPA-A HERBAL FORMULATION

Abstract Tarunyapidikahara Lepa is a compound Ayurvedic formulation comprising equal quantity of Lodhra (Symplocos racemosa Roxb), Vacha (Acorus calamus Linn) and Dhanakya (Coriandrum sativum Linn.) prescribed in the management of Mukhdusika for local application in Chakradatta Kshudra Roga Chikitsa. In this present study pharmacognostical and pharmaceutical analysis of the Tarunyapidikahara Lepa is done. This study is done for the verification to authenticate genuine drug present in the formulation. Organoleptic features, microscopic features of combined drug are noted for pharmacognostical verification. Ash value, Loss on drying, Water soluble content, Alcohol soluble content and pH value etc. parameter which are mention in API for Churna (powder) formulation were obtained in this study. This combination is shows slightly acidic nature (pH Value=6) and the water soluble contents are more than alcohol soluble content.
