SERUM LIPID PROFILE AND NITRIC OXIDE LEVELS IN BETATHALASSEMIA PATIENTS IN HARYANA POPULATION

Abstract Beta thalassemia is an inherited disorder of blood which has major impact on lipid profile and lipoprotein levels. It is also associated with oxidative stress which can cause premature death due to cardiac complications. This study was planned to assess cardiovascular risk by analyzing lipid profile and nitric oxide levels in Haryana population. The study was conducted on 50 Thalassemia Major patients in age range of 1.5 to 30 years (M: F 32:18) who were receiving regular chelation therapy followed from Thalassemia ward of Pt B D Sharma, UHS, Rohtak.
