CLINICAL EVALUTION OF THE EFFECT OF DIVYA MADHUNASHINI VATI AND PHALTRIKADI KWAATH IN MADHUMEHA

Abstract

Diabetes is a major global health problem. Due to urbanization and sedentary life style this disease is growing fast and need immediate intervention. Diabetes mellitus, the third largest killer in the world behind the cardiac ailments and cancer and also is a major cause of adult blindness, kidney failure, gangrene, neuropathy, heart attack and stroke. Diabetes mellitus is a clinical syndrome characterized by hyperglycemia due to absolute and relative deficiency of insulin. It leads to decrease anabolism and increase catabolism. According to Ayurveda classics the disease described under the term Madhumeh and Premeha. In Ayurveda madhumeh is due to simultaneously vitiation of all three doshas. Vitiation of all three doshas leads to ojodusti and ojokshran diabetes accelerates degenerative diseases leading to early aging with micro and macrovascular complications. So in present studies we are using the medicines having two types of action. One is mainly of lowering blood sugar level and the other main action is drug acting as rasayan and reduce degenerative changes with also giving energy enhancing effect. In the present study we are taking Divya madhunashini vati with phalatrikaadi kwaath. Divya madhunashini vati is a herbo-mineral preparation which contain mainly drugs only having kapha pittahara properties which shows decrease blood sugar levels as well as shilajit which acts as rasayan and gives energy to entire cellular system of body.
