S-ALIZARIN RED DYE REMOVAL FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION USING NANOCHITOSAN/IRON OXIDE NANOPARTICLES/TAMARIND SHELL BLEND
E. Jothi and Vijayalakshmi K.*
Abstract The present research work deals with removal of S-Alizarin red dye from aqueous solution using nanochitosan/iron oxide nanoparticles/tamarind shell ternary blend in batch mode on laboratory scale. The effect of contact time on the adsorptive removal efficiencies was investigated and the obtained results indicate that around 75% salizarin red dye were removed from the aqueous solution. In addition the kinetic studies reveals that the pseudo second order kinetic model is followed and hence from the observed results it was suggested that the prepared nanochitosan/iron nanoparticles/tamarind shell ternary blend acts as a very good adsorbent for dye effluent treatment at the industrial level. Keywords: nanochitosan, tamarind shell, iron oxide nanoparticles, adsorption, s-alizarin red dye. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
