ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY BY DPPH ASSAY OF POTENTIAL NOVEL TERNARY BLENDS OF NANOCHITOSAN/POLYURETHANE/ POLYPROPYLENE GLYCOL
M. Saranya, T. Gomathi and P. N. Sudha*
Abstract The human body has a complex system of natural enzymatic and nonenzymatic antioxidant defenses which counteract the harmful effects of free radicals and other oxidants. Many researchers have focused on chitosan as a potential source of bioactive materials in the past few decades. The bioactivities summarized here may provide novel insights into the functions of chitosan and its derivatives. Nanochitosan (NCS) was prepared from chitosan by ionic gelation method with sodium tripolyphosphate. Polyurethanes (PU) find wide range of applications as good materials for the concentration and removal of both organic and inorganic pollutants because of their high efficiency for sorption of various ionic and neutral materials. Polypropylene glycol (PPG) is a family of long chain polymers attached to a glycerine backbone. The characterization of the prepared sample was carried out using FTIR, XRD, and SEM studies The present project deals with the aims in exploiting the Antioxidant Activity by DPPH Assay of the three polymers by preparing a ternary blends of NCS/PU/PPG(1:1:1) ratio. Keywords: Nanochitosan, polyurethane, polypropylene glycol, blend, Antioxidant. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
